The Assistant Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, and subcontractors in the field and ensures communication of the most current set of project drawings including addenda and RFIs. The Assistant Superintendent manages onsite construction resources and serves as a liaison between the field and the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with project drawings and specifications
  • Use of laptop, iPad, cellphone to correspond with Project Managers, subcontractors, and others via email and other various systems
  • Draft and request RFIs
  • Facilitate and attend meetings relevant to the successful completion of the job (e.g., progress meetings, zoning meetings, or MOSH/OSHA)
  • Analyze material needs and purchase jobsite supplies
  • Act in place of Superintendent when necessary such as weekends or evening shifts
  • Conduct and oversee job site safety inspections
  • Teach and monitor jobsite safety procedures and requirements
  • Oversee the completion of punchlists provided by Superintendent
  • Coordinate and oversee required project inspections
  • Monitor project progress in accordance with project schedule and take actions to avoid or make up project delays
  • Complete daily project logs

Qualifications:

  • 2 Years of commercial construction experience is highly desired
  • Proficiency in BlueBeam highly desired
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of building construction processes and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of primary and specialty trade services performed on a GC project
  • OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid certified
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and stay organized
  • Ability to communicate with others outside the organization and represent the organization to customers, the public, and other external sources
  • Ability to provide accurate information to supervisors, coworkers, and clients in a timely manner
